World Cup Event will take place near the Kyshtym town. The region is well-known for its blue water lakes and old mountains, covered with rich pine forests. Kyshtym is located in the middle of the way between two Ural big cities: Ekaterinburg and Cheljabinsk. The area is full of unique landscapes for any kind of Worldwide race to offer.

VENUE:

Kyshtym, located 120 km South of Ekaterinburg and 100 km North of Cheljabinsk. The competition center is situated in the resort-hotel «Dalnyaya Dacha».

LOCAL ORGANISER:

«Roza Vetrov», ski-o club of Ozersk. Club has many talented orienteers including national Teams level. They have a good experience in arranging national events since 1991 including Russian foot-o Championships-95 and Russian ski-o Championships-1997,2000,2001.

TRANSPORTS

Organisers will arrange transportation from Pskov to Chelyabinsk (charter flight),- Dalnjaja Datcha and back. Fee - 199,9 USD/pers.

Ekaterinburg airports offer international lines from Prague, Paris, Frankfurt, Tcheljabinsk airports offer international lines from Hanover, and both airports offers domestic lines from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia.

There are bus-lines and railway connection between both airports and Kyshtym.

Organizers can arrange on request transportation from Ekaterinburg and Tcheljabinsk airports or railway stations to the competition centre (20 USD\pers.\ one way).

Transportation to start-finish area is included in start fee.

PAYMENT

Fees related to entries, accommodation and meals, and transportation may be paid in two instalments, i.e. 25% of the total fee by 31st January 2003, and the remaining 75% upon arrival in Kyshtym town, Cheliabinsk, RUS.

MAPS:

The area is mapped by high qualified Russian map-makers, in the 5-colored IOF symbols, generalized for ski-o use, Scale 1:10000, H 5m., no special symbols.

TERRAIN:

Moderate mountains slopes with re-entrances and passages from 200 to 300 m high above the sea level, covered mostly with coniferous woods. Many paths and roads. Visibility is usually good.

CLIMATE:

Continental type. The first half of March which is planned for the event shows mostly stable snow cover 0.5-0.8m an average temperature of this time period is about -4 –7 Centigrade.

ECOLOGY:

The place is ecologically clean. The radioactivity level is very low, water, soil and atmosphere are free of dangerous pollution, all the State Ecology certificates are available if required.

SPORT IDENT ELECTRONIC PUNCHING SYSTEM

Sport Ident electronic punching system will be used. Competitors may use their own SI-card or they can borrow one from the organiser. All competitors must inform the organiser about it in the entry form.

Borrowing SI-cards will cost nothing for the competitor, but extra $15 will be taken for lost borrowed SI-card.

MEDIA SERVICES

Press centre is located in Competition Centre. Representatives of media are kindly asked to register by 25th January 2003 and inform the organisers about their status (TV, radio, writing journalist, photo). TRAINING POSSIBILITIES

Ski tracks of different standard surround the hotel are available -, there are ski-o and foot-o maps.

TRAINING CAMP

The organizers will arrange a training camp on request in the period from December 2002 till 1st March 2003 in Sliudorudnik town, 15 km from Competition Centre. Accommodation in cottages, 2-4 bed-rooms, shower and sauna are available, TV, price is $20/day/person includes accommodation, full board. Full service for ski-orienteering training. Entry fee - $10/day.
