Dear friends! Welcomes You to Ural! World Cup Event will take place near the Kyshtym town. The region is well-known for its blue water lakes and old mountains, covered with rich pine forests. Kyshtym is located in the middle of the way between two Ural big cities: Ekaterinburg and TcheIjabinsk. The area is full of unique landscapes for any kind of Worldwide race to offer.

VENUE: Kyshtym, located 120 km South of Ekaterinburg and 100 km North of TcheIjabinsk. The competition center is situated in the resort-hotel "Dalnjaja Datcha".

LOCAL ORGANISER: "Roza Vetrov", ski-o club of Ozersk town. Club has many talented orienteers including national Teams level. We have a good experience in arranging national events since 1991 including Russian foot-o Championships-95 and Russian ski-o Championships-97 and 2000,2001. Event director: Mr. Andrey Akimov

EMBARGOED AREAS: The regions around resort school "Gagarin" and to the north from resort-hotel "Dalnjaja Datcha".

PARTICIPATION RESTRICTIONS: National Teams members allowed to race, see IOF rules for World Cup, (paragraphs 5.7, 6.1, 6.9, 6.10, 6.15) The total size of team including team leaders and accompanying persons is unlimited.

NEW VISA REQUIREMENTS According to NEW REQUIREMENTS of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to make the INVITATION for VISA, we need:

1. The copy of passport page with photo. Fax copy doesn't accept into consideration, if photo is not good enough. The best solution may be scanning of passports and sending them by e-mail to : rforient@comail.ru and to: alexeykuzmin@pike.pike.ru.
2. Each competitor's and official's sex, first name, family name, date of birth (day, month, year), passport number, passport validity till Dates of Entrance and Departure.
3. In what city VISA will be made and taken.

The time of making invitation is 12 days!!!

Only after it, we can send it to the embassy and you can start VISA making. This time you can ask the embassy in your country.

You can send the wider list of participants, if you have qualification competitions later, otherwise it can be problems with VISA.

Name entry by 20th February 2003

• information whether an athlete will borrow SI-card or will use his or her own (in this case give relevant SI-card number)

ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD: The price includes accommodation and food from 2nd March dinner to 9th March breakfast

For "Extra", "А", "В" types of accommodation the choice of meal variants is possible: "А" type (in breakfast the meat dishes are not included, but yogurt and musly) and "B" type (in breakfast the meat dishes are included).

Date for payment:- 31 January 2003 (25% at least).

TRANSPORTS: Organisers will arrange transportation from Pskov to Chelyabinsk (charter flight),- Dalnjaja Datcha and back. Fee - 199,9 USD /pers. Date for payment:- 31 January 2003 (25% at least).

Ekaterinburg airports offer international lines from Prague, Paris, Frankfurt.

Tcheljabinsk airports offer international lines from Hanover, and both airports offers domestic lines from Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia.

There are bus-lines and railway connection between both airports and Kyshtym.

Organizers can arrange on request transportation from Ekaterinburg and Tcheljabinsk airports or railway stations to the competition centre (20 USD\pers.\ one way).

MAPS: The area is mapped by high qualified Russian map-makers, in the 5-colored IOF symbols, generalized for ski-o use, Scale 1:10000, H 2,5m., no special symbols, A3-size for Long, A4 for short and relay.

TERRAIN: Hills with the fine, positive forms on slopes. Difference of height 15 - 50 meters. The network of roads, tracks, glades is advanced. A wood - pine, birch. Visibility is usually good.

CLIMATE: Sharply Continental type. Snow cover is 0.5-0.8m , an average temperature of March -7 Centigrade.

ECOLOGY: The place is ecologically clean. The radioactivity level is very low, water, soil and atmosphere are free of dangerous pollution, all the State Ecology certificates are available if required.

WINNING TIME AND APPROXIMATE LENGTH: Preliminary length of the courses

SPORT IDENT ELECTRONIC PUNCHING SYSTEM: Sport Ident electronic punching system will be used. Competitors may use their own SI-card or they can borrow one from the organiser. All competitors must inform the organiser about it in the entry form.

Borrowing SI-cards will cost nothing for the competitor, but extra $15 will be taken for lost borrowed SI-card.

MEDIA SERVICES: Press centre is located in Competition Centre. Representatives of media are kindly asked to register by 25th January 2003 and inform the organisers about their status (TV, radio, writing journalist, photo). TRAINING POSSIBILYTIES: Ski tracks of different standard surround the hotel are available-, there are ski-o and foot-o maps.

TRAINING CAMP: The organizers will arrange a training camp on request in the period from December 2002 till 1st March 2003 in Sliudorudnik town, 15 km from Competition Centre. Accommodation in cottages, 2-4 bed-rooms, shower and sauna are available, TV, price is $20 / day / person includes accommodation, full board. Full service for ski-orienteering training. Entry fee - $10/day.
